Transition Ireland and Northern Ireland

the network for communities building local resilience

Peter Cowman* is Sheltermaker.
He reminds us that we have forgotten how to shelter ourselves, leaving us exposed to a market which ruthlessly exploits this vulnerability.
But all is not lost!
By awakening our instincts we can live our sheltermaker dreams - and in the process discover who we really are!

The Sheltermaker Tour will kick off in Cork on Wednesday March 6th and continue until Thursday April 11th. when it moves to the UK. Evening talks and presentations as well as 1 and 2-day weekend Workshops are on offer – for details go to sheltermaker.com. The proposed Itninerary reaches all parts of the country.

The Tour will be grassroots-focused, bringing the information to where it is needed and encouraging people to get together and help each other achieve their sheltermaking ambitions. The emphasis will be on local events.

I’ll need people on the ground willing to organise and promote these, so don’t hesitate to put your hand up. It’s all very straightforward really. I’ll give you all the help I can, supplying a poster, PR material and so on! Organisers will be amply rewarded!

The Tour will coincide with the publication of The Sheltermaker’s Manual which will be released on February 16th. Copies of the Manual will be available at all events or can be ordered online from sheltermaker.com
